NOTEworthy

NOTEworthy is Theatre of NOTE's staged reading series, established to foster relationships with playwrights as they develop new works. The playwrights chosen for this series will attend a staged reading of their works-in-progress and participate in a talkback with the cast and audience, giving the playwright an opportunity to make revisions based on this feedback. This is your chance to be an active participant in the playwriting process!

Past NOTEworthy readings have included: "Red Light, Green Light"* by Erik Patterson, "Zeppelin!" by Bill Robens, "Lydia in Bed"* by Phinneas Kiyomura, "And the Two Romeos" by Jennifer Maisel, "Dirt" by Alex Dremann, "Brandohead"* by Chris Danowski and "Film"* by Pat McGowan.

* Plays that went on to become part of a NOTE mainstage season.

SKELETON STORIES by Delondra Williams

Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13th & 14th, 2008

Maya is on a quest to find her dead mother. Her prayers conjure a distorted series of short plays that shadow her own journey from this life to the afterlife, from girl to woman, from caterpillar to butterfly. "Skeleton Stories" examines the death mythologies of various cultures--ancient Greek and Egyptian, modern American, and especially the rich Mesoamerican traditions that still live beneath the skin of Los Angeles today. Maya's search reveals the heart of Aztec ideals: love, death, and human sacrifice.
